Alcohol, the Perimenopause and Beyond

Welcome to the Mini-Course about Alcohol and the perimenopause!

There are over 30 perimenopausal symptoms. We’re not all going to suffer with them all but more than two thirds of symptoms have been shown to be adversely affected when we consume alcohol.

 When you consider that generally menopausal women as a demographic are:

  • more affluent, we have more disposable income as our children become less dependent on us financially
  • we care less about the pennies and would happily just put what we fancy in our shopping, quite often buying more than we need ‘just in case’
  • we’re more inclined to drink out of habit, which means we consume more
  • we favour a slower pace of life, settling in front of Netflix with a drink and a grab bag of crisps has meant we can feel less and less inspired to move our bodies.

All these things impact our menopause experience hugely!

In this booklet we're taking a deep dive into the relationship between alcohol and the three most common symptoms women complain about during perimenopause and beyond including:

  • Weight gain

We finish with some questions you can ask yourself to help you become more aware of your drinking habits and what you can do to change your menopause experience for better mental and physical health.
