DRY JANUARY SUCCESS

Thinking of doing Dry January? We can help you decide!

Dry January

It's been a tough year and we were all looking forward to celebrating with family and friends to end the year on a positive note...and then all that changed because of the pandemic!

There has been much in the press this year about drinking our way through lockdown number 1 in the beautiful weather, to people feeling fed up with alcohol and trying to drink less through lockdown number 2.

Drinking statistics have risen significantly over the course of the year and after all the up's and down's, you'd be forgiven for wanting to leave 2020 with a huge 'good riddance' cheer!

Between Christmas and New Year traditionally we take the time to think about what we want from the year ahead. Many turn their thoughts to their future health and how they want things to be different. With all the health concerns we've had I think this is very much the case for 2021; more so than any year before!

If you're on the fence about whether to take part in Dry January here are some things to think about while you consider your decision.

  • What health benefits would you like to see from taking a break from the booze for a bit?
  • Would you like to sleep better, for longer or get better quality undisturbed sleep?
  • Do you have digestive issues or poor gut health?
  • Would you like to save some money?
  • How's your mental health has it taken a dip or do you suffer with anxiety?
  • What excuses are holding you back? What are you telling yourself as reasons to not give it a try? Are they things that could be easily overcome?

Taking a break from the booze for a while can help with all these things and at the moment there are lots of tools, help and advice to get you through and help you focus. There has never been a better time to try alcohol free drinks alternatives, the market is booming and there really is something for everyone, so you don't need to feel like you're missing out.

If I've learnt anything in during the chaos of 2020, it's to take things one day at a time. You don't even need to commit to the full month, you could just choose a week or even just a few days; you can always choose to extend your commitment if it feels good to!

Whether you choose to dip your toe in the challenge or go all in and commit to the month, I wish you every success. Make sure you take note of the changes you see as you go along, it'll give you a great sense of accomplishment!

Have fun! xo
